Tier2Tek Staffing is partnering with a leading client to hire a skilled and experienced Network Engineer. This is a direct hire position based in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the client's network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance. Responsibilities
- Network Design & Implementation: Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems, to meet the organization's needs.
- Network Monitoring & Management: Monitor network performance, identify and resolve issues, and optimize network efficiency. Implement changes and upgrades as needed to ensure maximum uptime.
- Security Management: Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide Level 2/3 support for network-related issues, including diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network connectivity problems.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the network infrastructure, configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the network infrastructure and to support other IT initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance network performance and security.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security.
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or similar network equipment.
- Experience with firewall management (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Strong knowledge of VPN, MPLS, and VLAN technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
- Experience with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve network issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
