Tier2Tek Staffing is assisting our client in hiring an experienced IT Field Engineer for a direct hire position in Chicago. This role involves traveling to client sites to provide on-site technical support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and implement IT solutions that align with business needs. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a strong technical background in IT infrastructure, network systems, and end-user support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site and remote IT support for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Document support activities, resolutions, and system configurations in detail.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and security protocols.
  • Train end-users on new technologies and best practices to optimize IT resource utilization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, field engineering, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to client sites.
