Tier2Tek Staffing is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) for a direct hire opportunity with a leading manufacturing company in Chicago. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's databases to ensure efficient, secure, and reliable operations.

This role involves collaborating with IT teams, ensuring data integrity, and supporting business operations through effective database management.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure database security by implementing best practices and monitoring access.
  • Optimize and tune SQL queries and database structures for improved performance.
  • Develop and implement data management policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with developers to support database design and integration.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies and recommend improvements.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Experience with database security best practices and access controls.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery techniques and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA, or similar.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like AWS RDS or Azure SQL.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
